TD Bank Internship → UX Designer

Over the summer of 2021, I joined TD Bank Group's Innovation Lab as a UX design intern. TD Lab is an authentically lean and highly collaborative work environment centred around ideating, building, and testing innovative solutions that improve customer and employee experiences. As a UX designer, my day-to-day activities consisted of collaborating with project managers, developers, business analysts, and designers on different projects. My role included but was not limited to: ​ → Conducting user research and interviews to help understand customer problems. → Developing storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas and advocate for best practices. → Executing UX and visual design requirements as part of a team. → Working closely with team leads and developers to bring solutions to life.

The typical project workflow at the lab is broken down into 4 main steps of discovery, all building on top of each other: → Research and ideation → Prototyping → Proof of concept → Production I was fortunate enough to partake in several projects ranging from the research and ideation phase to the proof of concept phase. TD Bank Mini Store is one of the products where I had the chance to experience the end-to-end UX design process. Coming out of this internship, I was delighted to take on an intrapreneur approach while flexing my creative muscles, bringing impactful ideas to life and taking on challenging design tasks. It was also a great opportunity to work on a team that operates like a start-up, while also helping lead the way in fintech.
